Graduate Neuroscience Discussion is a course taken most often by first year GBS Neuroscience theme students.  This class seeks to ensure that neuroscience focused training that started in the summer at Daulphin Island grows while students prepare for neuroscience focused courework in the spring.  This class will assist students in developing lecture skills and reading and discuss the current neuroscience literature.  Each week a member of the UAB neuroscience community will select a reasonably new paper that captured their attention.  A participant will develop a 10 minute chalk talk style introduction for the class that sets up the basic principles critical for understanding the paper.  Participants will then be randomly called upon to present figures from the paper, explaining methods, results and conclusions as we proceed.  With the help of the weekly guest, we will seek to understand the current state of the field of neuroscience this paper represents.
